Suzuka Circuit

Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture is Honda's own racetrack and one of the most famous circuits in the world. Opened in 1962, its 5.8 km figure-eight layout, with a bridge where the track crosses over itself, hosts the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix and the Suzuka 8 Hours. For Honda fans it's sacred ground, and this October I'm heading there for NSX Day. My video from the day is coming soon on YouTube.

Honda's Home Track

Suzuka was built by Honda in 1962 and designed by Dutch engineer John Hugenholtz. It is still the only figure-eight circuit on the Formula 1 calendar, and its corners are famous in their own right: the S Curves, Degner, the Hairpin, Spoon Curve and 130R. A fun one for Honda fans: Spoon Sports, the tuner behind the exhaust on my DC2, is said to take its name from Spoon Curve.

NSX Day at Suzuka

NSX Day brings Honda NSX owners together at Suzuka, from the original NA1 and NA2 to the latest hybrid generation. The original NSX's story is closely tied to this track, where Ayrton Senna famously gave feedback during development testing. I'm there this October with the cameras rolling, and the full video will be posted on this page and on YouTube.

Visiting Suzuka Circuit

Suzuka Circuit is roughly an hour from Nagoya. By train, the nearest major station is Shiroko on the Kintetsu line, with buses to the circuit, and extra shuttles run on big race weekends. The site also has a family amusement park and an on-site hotel, so it makes an easy day trip even without a race. Check the official event calendar before you go, then pair it with Fuji Speedway, Liberty Walk HQ and Garage Defend from the Chubu section of the JDM Legends Map.
