GT-R Overload: Inside Osaka's Legendary Global Auto

If you are hunting for a Nissan Skyline GT-R, or simply want to witness a breathtaking collection of "Godzilla" in its natural habitat, you need to add Global Auto in Osaka to your JDM bucket list. I recently visited this renowned shop, and the sheer volume of pristine Skylines waiting in their yard is nothing short of mind-blowing.
A Sea of Skylines
Walking into the Global Auto yard is like stepping into a multi-million dollar vault of JDM history. The variety of generations and specifications parked side-by-side is staggering:
The R34 Collection: I don't think I've ever seen this many R34s in one spot. From a flawless Midnight Purple build to Bayside Blue V-Spec IIs, the restoration work here is top-tier. They even had a rare S-Tune concept engine (Spec 1) sitting proudly in the bay of a heavily restored model.
Autech R33: I spotted a beautiful 40th Anniversary Autech R33 — a rare four-door Skyline that I've only previously seen parked outside Omori Factory.
The R32 Twins: As someone currently in the process of restoring a BNR32 to ship back to Canada, seeing a pair of perfectly clean silver R32s was serious motivation. One had the rear wiper deleted while the other retained it. After seeing them side-by-side, I’m definitely proceeding with the wiper delete on my own build —it just cleans up the lines of the sports car so well.
Modern Monsters and Non-Nissan Legends
Global Auto isn't strictly limited to the 90s heritage models. The shop also houses some incredibly aggressive R35 GT-Rs. One standout featured graphics that outlined the car’s aggressive lines, making it look fast even while parked. Seeing the massive rear diffusers and aggressive front lips on these R35s definitely gave me some ideas for modifications.
While Nissan dominates the yard, they also curate other legends. Squeezed among the GT-Rs was a stunning Honda NSX NA2 in a rare blue finish, a gutted, track-ready widebody Toyota 86, and an incredibly clean Lancer Evolution.
The Art of Restoration
The most impressive aspect of Global Auto is the interior condition of these cars. Many of these vehicles, which are 25+ years old, look brand new inside. I saw a brand new Nismo instrument cluster waiting to be installed in one of the restoration projects. It proves that this shop doesn't just sell cars; they preserve automotive history.

Whether you are actively looking to buy a GT-R or just want to admire the craftsmanship of high-level JDM restoration, Global Auto in Osaka is a must-visit. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the quality of their inventory speaks for itself. My own R32 has a long way to go to reach this condition, but seeing the finished products here provides the perfect blueprint.
