After a side trip to Hong Kong, I picked up my 98-spec Integra Type R from Haneda Airport and headed straight into the heart of Tokyo. This is a 4K POV night drive along the Shuto Expressway, through the tunnels near Ikebukuro, and into the neon of Shinjuku and Kabukicho.

The Route

  • Haneda Airport P4 parking

  • Shuto Expressway

  • Ikebukuro

  • Shinjuku

  • Kabukicho

Tokyo Driving Quirks

This drive had a few real-life Tokyo moments: paying at manual toll booths because I didn't have ETC set up yet, and losing GPS signal deep in the tunnels of the C2.

Why I Love This Drive

If you enjoy raw driving sounds, VTEC downshifts and the Shuto Expressway at night, this one is for you. My favourite part is the ending, threading through the tight, lively streets of Shinjuku where the JDM scene really stands out against the city lights.

Final Thoughts

There's no better welcome back to Tokyo than a night run in the DC2.

Have you ever driven in Tokyo? What surprised you the most? Let me know in the comments!
