Motorama 2026: Muscle, Tuners, and JDM Soul in Ontario

Attending a show like Motorama is a different experience when you’ve just come from the Tokyo Auto Salon. It’s a collision of North American muscle, custom show builds, and a JDM tuner scene that is thriving right here in our backyard. For the first time, I hit the show floor with my brother to document the "Motorama vibe" [00:39].
The Muscle and the "OG" Legends
The show is a massive tribute to the classics. We spent a lot of time in the "Muscle" section, where the craftsmanship is just as intense as anything I've seen at Omori Factory:
The "John Wick" Mustangs: We spotted a pair of legendary '67 and '68 Mustangs that looked like they rolled off a movie set [08:16]. One owner even built his '67 from the ground up during the COVID lockdowns, doing the paint and mechanical work himself [09:41].
The Underside Detail: A trend I saw at Motorama that really stood out was the use of mirrors to show off the underside of the cars [01:44]. It’s a level of "clean" that is hard to maintain in the Ontario winters!
The JDM "Spring Fever" Section
This is where the heart of Daikoku Legends really resides. The JDM section featured some of the most technical builds of the show:
The LC-Faced G37: One of the craziest builds was an Infiniti G37 that had been entirely custom-restructured to look like a Lexus LC500 [48:07]. The builder used only 25% of the original kit, custom-mounting the headlights and taillights to build the body around them [50:37].
K-Swap Fever: We found a whole crew of Hondas (EF, EG, and EK Civics) running K-swap setups [01:08:27]. Seeing a turbo K20 swapped into an EF Civic that looks like it could kill a supercar was a highlight [01:11:15].
The Air Suspension Trend: It felt like every other JDM build was running Airlift Performance air suspension, allowing them to literally "kiss" the ground when parked [01:00:14].
A Global Connection
Talking to vendors like Eibach reminded me that these brands are global. They're celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and are focusing more and more on the truck and SUV market, but they still have a deep respect for the "slammed" JDM scene we grew up with [04:44].
Final Thoughts
Motorama 2026 proved that you don't have to be in Yokohama to find a community that "ain't f***ing around" [01:21:28]. Whether it was a high-school student-built racer [44:32] or a 500hp K-swapped Civic, the passion for preserving and modifying these machines is universal.
We’re back from the Japan trip, but the Motorama energy has us ready to keep building.
