What sets this EK9 apart is the "DNA" of the partners involved. While Garage Yoshida handled the skeletal restoration, Spoon Sports provided the heart.




The Heart: Spoon B16B "Renovation" Engine


Under that signature carbon fiber hood lies a B16B engine that has been blueprinted and balanced to an obsessive degree.

  • Precision Engineering: Spoon reduces the weight tolerance of the moving parts from the factory 2.0g down to a staggering 0.02g.

  • Rev-Monster: While a stock EK9 is impressive, this engine is optimized for track endurance, capable of revving freely to 11,000+ RPM without the vibration that typically plagues high-RPM builds.

  • The "Mugen" Connection: The build features a unique Mugen Sport Exhaust—a period-correct "holy grail" part with a complex internal pipe design that optimizes backpressure for the B18/B16 high-revving range.



The Skeleton: Chassis Reinforcement by Garage Yoshida


The restoration process at Garage Yoshida in Nara is more intense than a standard paint job.

  • 3D Alignment: Every chassis undergoes 3D Alignment Testing to ensure the frame is straighter than when it left the factory in 1998.

  • Spot Welding: To handle the increased rigidity needed for modern track tires, the team adds over 400 additional spot welds across the front window, door openings, and quarter glass.

  • Epoxy Protection: After removing every trace of rust via wet-blasting, the underbody is treated with anti-rust epoxy and a 2-component urethane coat before the final body color is applied.



The Cockpit: Studio Rokuzero Custom Interior


The interior is where the "Legend" philosophy of refined elegance truly shines. Studio Rokuzero (Kanagawa) handles the re-upholstery, blending racing utility with high-end materials.

  • Bespoke Fabric: The seats often feature custom "Mt. Fuji" moquette fabric and black suede, a nod to the classic Japanese aesthetic.

  • Integrated Safety: The roll cage isn't just bolted in; it’s finished to match the interior’s leather and Alcantara theme, ensuring it looks like a factory-option part rather than an aftermarket add-on.



The Rolling Stock


The car sits on Spoon SW388 Duralumin wheels—the iconic five-spoke design that has been synonymous with Spoon for decades. These are paired with a Spoon Monoblock brake kit to ensure the stopping power matches the high-RPM energy of the build.
