If you find yourself driving through the mountain passes of Gunma, there is one stop that is absolutely mandatory for any fan of the rotary engine: D’z Racing Café Garage [00:35]. I first visited this spot back in October during a tour with Drivers Lounge, and I knew I had to come back to document this "rotary heaven" properly.
Inside the Man Cave
The moment you step inside, you realize this isn't your average coffee shop. It is a massive, high-end man cave dedicated to Initial D and automotive culture [01:22].
The Collection: The owner is a hardcore collector. Everywhere you look, there are rotary engine displays, limited-edition Initial D towels (styled like manhole covers), and a massive array of figures ranging from anime legends to a surprising amount of Iron Man suits [01:59].
The Merch: Beyond the great lattes [02:13], they have a killer selection of t-shirts, hoodies, and even high-end hardware like titanium lug nuts [02:32]. It’s the kind of place where you come for a coffee and leave with a lighter wallet and a heavier heart for the 90s era.
The Side Lot Gems
Before hitting the main attraction, the side lot holds some incredible builds:
The Gutted FC3S: I spotted a track-ready FC3S RX-7 with a carbon fiber hood and a completely gutted interior [04:34]. With the rear seat delete and full roll cage, you can tell this car has seen its fair share of battles [05:01].
The Wide-Body RX-8: Proving that the rotary legacy continued, there was a super wide-body RX-8 sitting on incredibly aggressive wheels and fitted with dual Bride bucket seats [05:43].
