The Real Auto Salon: Daikoku PA on TAS Weekend

Updated: Oct 10
While everyone else was packed inside Makuhari Messe, I skipped the final day of Tokyo Auto Salon and headed straight to the source: Daikoku Parking Area. If you want to see what Japanese car culture looks like on the street, this is the real Auto Salon.
My First Solo Run Into Daikoku
This was my first time driving into Daikoku on my own, and I parked the DC2 right behind an R33 GT-R. Not a bad way to start the night.
TAS Weekend Brought Out Everything
Because it was Auto Salon weekend, the variety of builds was overwhelming. A few that stood out:
A Tokyo Drift-style VeilSide Fortune RX-7
A wild Itasha R34 GT-R
Pristine Hakosukas
A massive turnout of Skylines and R35 GT-Rs
Bumping Into Friends
I also ran into my friend Josh and the Drivers Lounge crew, who brought their R35 out to the meet. The video is a 25-minute uncut 4K walkthrough, so you can stroll the rows of Godzillas with me and hear the exhaust notes as cars keep rolling in off the Shuto Expressway.
Final Thoughts
Tokyo Auto Salon is incredible, but Daikoku on TAS weekend shows you where these builds actually live. It was one of the busiest nights I've ever seen there.
Would you rather spend the day inside Tokyo Auto Salon or the night at Daikoku PA? Let me know in the comments!
